Kate Thomas is a musical theatre book writer and lyricist. She is the writer of How to Train Your Dragon Jr. (with Veronica Mansour, DreamWorks/Universal, Music Theatre International), and her musical Forget Me Not (with Joey Contreras) has initiated a groundbreaking partnership with a cutting edge DNA lab to solve real cold cases through production. Her work has been developed with Prospect Theater Company, Apples and Oranges Arts, Manhattan School of Music, Athena Theatre Company, Monsterpiece Theater Collective, New York Theater Festival, The Dare Tactic, Open Jar, New York Theatre Barn, Steinhardt School of Music, Illinois Wesleyan, and Tisch. She is a two-time Kleban Prize Finalist, two-time Jonathan Larson Grant Finalist, and 2021 PMCA Emerging Playwright Competition Winner. She is currently commissioned by Children's Theatre Company to adapt Brambletown for the stage (with the Grammy award winning Okee Dokee Brothers). She received her MFA in Musical Theatre Writing from Tisch School of the Arts and is passionate about crafting original musicals that move (and groove) you and make you feel (pretty enormously) alive.
