Kate Thomas is a Brooklyn-based theatre writer and occasional actress. She received her MFA in Musical Theatre Writing from Tisch, and wrote the book and lyrics for her musical with Joey Contreras, Ring Around (Provincetown Playhouse, Tisch New Studio on Broadway, O'Neill NMTC Finalist). Her songs have been performed at numerous New York City venues including 54 Below, Lincoln Center, and The Laurie Beechman. Her play, Dirty July, won a new play reading series with Monsterpiece Theater Collective and will be workshopped this August in New York Theater Festival's SUMMERFEST. She has contributed blog posts to a multitude of platforms, including ONMOGUL.com, The NewMusicalTheatre.com Green Room, and Thought Catalog. As a performer, she has appeared in productions of Five Women Wearing the Same Dress (The Duo), Spring’s Awakening (AlphaNYC), and Spike Heels (ATA).
